– Host Inaugural Partners Coordination Meeting
(Monrovia, Liberia) In a significant step towards fostering collaboration and enhancing gender inclusivity, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MGCSP) hosted its inaugural partners coordination meeting on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at the conference hall of the ministry.
The one-day gathering attracted a diverse array of partners, including prominent organizations such as UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women, ActionAid, SOS, ECOWAS, UNHCR, Save the Children, Plan International, Medica Liberia, UNICEF, among others.
The meeting was presided over by the Gender Minister Madam Gbeme Horace-Kollie, setting a collaborative tone for the discussions.
The spotlight of the meeting was the presentation on Liberia’s “Arrest Agenda for Inclusion Development” (AAID), a national framework designed to address critical development challenges and create sustainable opportunities for growth over a five-year mandate from 2025 to 2029.
As outlined by the Minister, the AAID focuses on six key pillars: Economic Transformation, Infrastructural Development, Rule of Law, Governance and Anti-Corruption, Environmental Sustainability, and Human Capital Development.
During the session, the Minister and her technical team provided a succinct overview of the AAID and detailed the specific programs under the MGCSP aimed at fulfilling the agenda’s goals.
These included critical programs targeting inclusive policies, combating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), and improving economic empowerment for women and vulnerable populations.
Key Programs Highlighted during the Partner Coordination Meeting included; Inclusive Policies and Systems focusing on (Program 47) which aims to eliminate barriers hindering vulnerable groups, targeting a 30% increase in women’s representation in leadership roles and the eradication of child marriages by 2029.
Sexual and Gender-Based Violence under (Program 48) which Focused on reducing SGBV incidents by 50% and enhancing access to support services through improved inter-agency coordination.
Inclusive Integrated Social Protection and Welfare captured under (Program 49) that aims to empower women and youth through education and economic initiatives, enhancing the livelihood of 16,000 vulnerable group members by 2029.
Economic Empowerment of Women and Vulnerable Groups which is addressed under (Program 50)Seeking to increase financial inclusion to 75% and promote livelihoods through climate-resilient practices.
The meeting emphasized the importance of collaboration, efficient coordination, effective communication, and timely reporting among stakeholders to ensure the success of these initiatives.
Several partners expressed their gratitude toward the Ministry for hosting this strategic meeting, recognizing it as a crucial step toward strengthening partnerships and enhancing networking efforts.
Recommendations were made for these coordination meetings to be a regular occurrence to maintain momentum in the efforts towards an inclusive Liberia.
As Liberia embarks on this ambitious agenda, the collective commitment from the gender ministry and their partners signals a hopeful outlook for the nation’s development trajectory, ensuring that no one is left behind in the quest for progress.
