…Calls for Investigation

Monrovia, Liberia – The Civil Society Coalition Against Fraud in Liberia (CSCAF-Liberia) has condemned the verbal and attempted physical attack on Liberia Football Association (LFA) President, Mr. Mustapha I. Raji, describing the incident as unacceptable and a threat to the integrity of football administration in the country.

According to CSCAF-Liberia, the incident occurred at the LFA headquarters on Saturday, January 24, 2026 when Jubilee FC President James Nimene and the club’s majority shareholder Bishop Allen Klayee had visited the football house to address issues surrounding the transfer of new players.

In a statement issued on Sunday, January 25, 2026, the coalition called on the LFA to immediately launch a full and independent investigation into the altercation which eyewitnesses confirmed became abusive and confrontational.

The watchdog group said information available to it indicates that Mr. Nimene allegedly engaged the LFA President in an unprofessional, disrespectful, and abusive manner. CSCAF-Liberia stressed that such conduct violates established football ethics and professional standards.

“No football official, regardless of status, has the right to intimidate or verbally abuse administrators in the performance of their duties,” the coalition stated.

CSCAF-Liberia further disclosed that the confrontation reportedly followed President Raji’s discovery of alleged unethical and fraudulent activities linked to Mr. Nimene. These include claims of the collection and misuse of Jubilee FC funds, as well as the provision of misleading information to the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Bishop Klayee.

The coalition alleged that Mr. Nimene falsely informed the club’s leadership that the LFA was withholding funds due to political support for Mr. Cassell Kuoh. However, CSCAF-Liberia said available financial records contradict those claims and instead point to serious financial irregularities.

The group described it as troubling that the matter reportedly escalated into confrontation rather than cooperation and accountability.

CSCAF-Liberia has called for Mr. Nimene to be referred to the LFA Disciplinary Committee and subjected to appropriate sanctions in accordance with the laws and regulations governing football in Liberia. The coalition emphasized that football administration must be governed by professionalism and respect, not intimidation or misinformation.

The organization also warned that institutions cannot function effectively where threats, insults, or violence are tolerated, stressing the need for accountability without fear or favor.

CSCAF-Liberia said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and urged the LFA to act promptly in order to uphold transparency, justice, and the credibility of Liberian football.
All efforts to contact Mr. Nimene did not materialize
